Interestingly, tribal art in India takes on unusual manifestations through usage of wide-ranging medium such as earthenware, painting, metalwork, paper art, weaving and crafting of objects such as jewelry and toys. These are not just piece of art with artistic value, as they hold a significant place in lives of individuals who are closely knit with their beliefs and rituals.

A wall painting is one of the intermittent attribute that has been found in tribal society. The ritual of creating ingenious designs on walls and floors during festivals or religious ceremony has been commonly found in India since prehistoric time.  Usually, tribals tend to create new designs using fresh hues and colors like red, black, white, yellow during repainting their houses. These colors are usually made using vegetables. The wall painting is especially created with a sole aim to beautify the huts, which is why tribals hardly consider the facts related to   the surface, texture and the material used to paint.

Symbolic Forms

Symbol forms are usually pained in suggestive manner, indicating to something significant. Each symbol hold some importance in their culture. They are painted on interior walls.

Human Forms

Human forms are painted using a particular way. They are depicted with a vertical line in the centre representing body of the human, with two semi circles in a cross/triangle/square/rectangle. Not much focus is laid on legs as compared to hands which are typically raised upwards or are shown parallel to the earth. Head is shown via a big dot.
