What is a binder

A binder is a substance that is used to mix or glue other materials or elements together. In the context of art, the binder is a substance which when mixed with paint forms paint colors or sticks of the pastel colors. Different types of binders are used to make different colors. For watercolors, gum Arabic is used, synthetic resin is used for acrylic colors, oil for oil paints and tragacanth gum for pastels.
